Speech
Speech Therapy targets the sounds your child makes. Between 1 and 2 years old, children should be able to make the following sounds in words: m, d, p, b, h, w. By 3 years this should grow to include: t, k, g, n, f, y, and -ing. Children who have difficulty with early speech sounds may have an articulation disorder, a phonological processing disorder, or Apraxia of Speech. An SLP will provide play-based, interactive therapy using strategies such as modeling and imitation, verbal and gestural cues, and feedback. If you have concerns about your child's intelligibility, reach out for an evaluation today.
Language
Language Therapy for young children is play-based therapy designed to emphasize the importance of early language development and communication skills. The goal is to support language acquisition in a fun, developmentally appropriate way that respects each child's unique needs and abilities. At Happy Hearts, we are neurodiversity-affirming which means we celebrate the many different ways humans process information and learn new skills. This shows up in our therapy by the way we work with each family to meet their unique needs. Family members play a significant role in our approach--children learn best from interacting with their families, so we want you to feel empowered and confident to implement the strategies we use in therapy at home in your daily routines.

Feeding
Feeding Therapy aims to help children who experience difficulties with feeding and swallowing by identifying the underlying causes and providing targeted interventions such as dietary adjustments, oral motor exercises, and sensory adjustment therapy. Feeding difficulties can be attributed to various factors, including developmental delays, medical conditions, oral motor challenges, sensory processing difficulties, and traumatic experiences. The ultimate goal of feeding therapy is to help children learn to eat and drink safely and efficiently. This will, in turn, improve the child's overall well-being, reduce stress and anxiety surrounding feeding, and promote healthy parent-child bonds through mealtime interactions. If you think your child is experiencing feeding difficulties, reach out and schedule an evaluation today.
