ABOUT ME
Hannah Joy Harrison, MS, CCC-SLP
I am a neurodiversity-affirming pediatric speech therapist with a passion for working with families who want to help their children develop in a way that respects their individuality and autonomy. I work with parents to honor each family and child's unique needs by working from their strengths and interests.
I am trained to work with Gestalt Language Processors via the Meaningfulspeech courses. I have completed AEIOU: An Integrated Approach to Pediatric Feeding, as well as Feed the Peds. I have a BA in English with a concentration in Elementary Education from the University of Colorado, a BS in Communication Disorders and Deaf Education from Utah State University, and an MS in Communicative Disorders from Eastern New Mexico University.
MY APPROACH
Language in the Natural Environment
I have always believed that language develops best in the natural environment. The controlled environment in a doctor's office or clinic is not always a place where children can be comfortable to fully demonstrate their unique interests and abilities. It can also be difficult for parents to carry over strategies from the clinic into natural routines at home when they are not an integral part of therapy. My background is in Montessori Education and many of those philosophies are carried into my work as an SLP. I honor these philosophies by using nature, sensorial experiences, a prepared environment, and fostering natural interest and curiosity.
